EDDIE RICHARDS:
It has been a very busy time for Eddie Richards, dance music's quintessential pioneer and Britain's godfather of house and techno Mixmag. One of the first DJs to champion house back in the mid 8O's one of the UK's original mix DJs residing at London's Camden Palace, voted 'best club in the world', (R.M.) Eddie became a key figure in a new music and cultural movement soon to explode worldwide. After playing at such influential and original underground clubs as Clink St. Heaven in London and Manchester's Hacienda, he went one to headline legendary 'pay parties' Sunrise. Energy. and Helter Skelter among countless others. Remix and production work led to the release of club classics; 'Acidman' in '88 which hit National Top 20, followed by other chart topping remixes of Ralphi Rosario, Orbital ......
MARCO CAROLA:
Techno producer Marco Carola has often been compared to such contemporaries as Jeff Mills and Richie Hawtin. Born in Naples, Italy, Carola took up the drums at an early age and by 15 was concentrating on electronic and house music. By 1993 Carola had put together his own studio and was issuing tracks for several different labels until he launched his own record company, Design Music, in 1996 (one of the first Italy-based techno-based labels). Ensuing tours of Australia, Europe, and America soon followed, resulting in such releases as 1998's Fokus and 2001's Open Systems, the latter of which Carola describes as an "electronic experience." - Greg Prato, All Music Guide ......
